BFG ROLES AND TEAMS
President:
The President is responsible for ensuring that all the teams work together toward the BFG’s mission to pollinate the world with happiness. The President is expected to uphold the BFG values both within the team and throughout the wider community when engaged in BFG activities. The President is further responsible for helping current team leaders elect their successors and to mentor new members in carrying out the BFG mission. The President is also responsible for allocating funds to each team’s activities, however may be overruled by majority vote on these allocations.
Vice-President:
The Vice President takes on a similar role to the President, but acts as a mentee. The Vice President is chosen by the President and is chosen from a younger grade to be groomed to assume the role of President at the end of the current President’s term. The Vice President is therefore responsible for acting alongside the President and learning the BFG methodology.
Team Leads:
Team Leads are responsible for ensuring that everyone within their team is working well together and that every person’s voice is heard. Team Leads are responsible for ensuring their team’s activities are well-executed. Furthermore, Team Leads are responsible for communicating the voices of their team members to other Team Leads, the President and Vice President to maintain a consistent flow of effective communication and synchronization between teams. Team Leads cannot overrule the opinions of other members within the team; team disputes should be taken to the President and Vice President and should in most cases be resolved communally.
All BFG Members:
Every member of the BFG team regardless of his/her position is expected to be helpful and respectful of every other BFG team member. All members are expected to be committed to the BFG’s mission to pollinate the world with happiness and to show interest in the topic of mental health/general happiness and positivity. All members are expected to share the BFG’s values in dealings with other BFG members and when representing the BFG at events. All members are expected to attend weekly BFG meetings and larger BFG events. Following the BFG philosophy, all members are expected to help out where they can if needed. All members are welcome to pursue a project with the BFG projects team in addition to working on any other team. All members are encouraged to contribute to the BFG Instagram presence.
Teams:
Projects:
The Projects Team is responsible for organizing events throughout the semester related to positivity and happiness. Members are encouraged to pursue their own projects, but may also be engaged in more general team projects. Members are also responsible for taking on projects brought to the BFG by non-members looking for mentorship and resources for their own positivity projects. All external projects must be approved first by the President and Vice President.
Fundraising:
The Fundraising Team is responsible for organizing fundraising events throughout the semester to support our projects. Members are also expected to reach out to individuals and organizations for donations to the BFG fund. All members are expected to cooperate with one another, listen to each other’s ideas and agree on events together. All members are responsible for attending all fundraising events except for special circumstances.
Media + Marketing:
The Media + Marketing Team is responsible for creating and maintaining the BFG brand image through the development of the logo, social media and advertising of events. Members are also expected to embark on special media projects such as creating BFG merchandise, building an online presence and other projects members may suggest. Members must consider all BFG team members’ opinions in the BFG brand image, but may ultimately decide on final designs. Should over 70% of the BFG team outside of the media team come to a consensus against any particular branding, the media team is required to revise the branding.
Finance:
The Finance Team is responsible for keeping track of the BFG’s financial standing and for liaising with the Brown University financial department for on-campus organizations. Members are also responsible for reimbursements, paying for events/projects and for handling the BFG Venmo account. Members may make suggestions for how much we should spend each semester, however, allocation of funds is ultimately the responsibility of the Presidency and the BFG team as a whole.
